Judge Mary Work

You can read Judge Mary M Work's Bio here

Judge Mary M Work, once a long-time Judge at Ulster County Family Court, is more than a Judicial associate of Judge Karen Peters. Please recall, reader, that Judge Work sat as the Family Court Judge to hear testimony regarding a custody litigation where Sara Maliha was a litagant.

20 Q. Do you know Mary Work?

21 A. Yes.

22 Q. Who was Mary Work at that time?

23 A. Mary Work at that time was a family court

24 judge for Ulster County.

25 Q. Did you have a social relationship with her?

62

1 FRANK FALUOTICO

2 A. Yes.

3 Q. Can you explain that relationship as of that

4 time at least?

5 A. Well, I had known Judge Work from being the

6 family court judge. She was friends with Karen Peters,

7 and Karen Peters and I had been to her house for social

8 occasions.

9 Q. Now, though, as you said, you weren't living

10 with Karen Peters any longer. That had stopped about

11 two and a half years before. Did you continue to have a

12 social relationship with Judge Work?

13 A. Social and I would say political.

14 Q. In what way?

15 A. Being the union president, we had endorsed

16 her.

17 Q. What I mean by social is, did you see her

18 outside the context of your work, at parties or events?

19 A. Some gatherings, maybe, yes.

20 Q. Did you ever have occasion to talk with Mary

21 Work about the incident that happened on the 19th of

22 June and whatever knowledge you had about it?

23 A. Directly with Judge Werk, no.

24 Q. Indirectly with people who you knew spoke with

25 her about it?

63

1 FRANK FALUOTICO

2 A. Are you asking me if I had a conversation with

3 people from her court about it?

4 Q. Sure.

5 A. Yes, I did.

6 Q. And who was that?

7 A. Katrina Lasko, the chief clerk.

8 Q. You told me there's one recorded

9 conversation -- we don't have to go into that. We went

10 over that earlier, this one conversation that you

11 indicated earlier you had with Ms. Lasko. Do you recall

12 that?

13 A. Yes.

14 Q. Did you have other conversations other than

15 that one with Ms. Lasko about the incident?

16 A. The only thing I recall since that

17 conversation is just that it was sad that it happened,

18 but that's about it. Nothing specifically about

19 specifics.

20 Q. When do you remember having that conversation

21 with Ms. Lasko?

22 A. A year ago, two years ago. I don't know.

23 Q. What was the context of that conversation?

24 Were you in her office?

25 A. No. We had been at a social gathering.

64

1 FRANK FALUOTICO

2 Q. Who brought the Maliha matter up at the social

3 gathering; you or Ms. Lasko?

4 A. Quite honestly, I don't know how it came up.

5 We might have been someplace where Sara was. I really

6 don't know.
